More options from YWD

In an effort to let you, our intrepid user, get the most out of YOUR site, we have more for you this week.

Interface improvements and new features

New formatting options for the header and footer areas of the page

The new YWD Designer options below are advanced and intended primarily to provide even more flexibility for designers utilizing YWD as a platform to create websites:

Layout / Header & footer / Header / Width & margins

  • Header area minimum height: allows you to specify a minimum height for the header (i.e. the area of the page above the 3 columns) irrespective of the height of any content blocks that you may place there. Useful also if you have defined content blocks for the header area that have been positioned using coordinates (or placed side by side with other content blocks -- coming soon!), as they don't create any height for the header area "on their own".

Layout / Header & footer / Footer / Width & margins

  • Footer area minimum height: analogous to the option above, but for the footer area.

Layout / Header & footer / Footer / Colours & borders

A new section where you can choose the background colour of the footer area and the borders around it. Contains these options:

  • Footer background colour: lets you pick the colour or make the background transparent.
  • Footer borders: colour and thickness for the left, right, top and bottom of the footer area

Layout / Header & footer / Footer / Special images

A new section where you can choose special images that can be inserted or used as a background for the footer area. Contains these options:

  • Top of footer: an image to be inserted at the top of the footer area, pushing down any content blocks that you may place there.
  • Bottom of footer: an image to be inserted at the bottom of the footer area, below any content blocks that you may place there.
  • Footer background: an image that can be used as a background for the footer area.

New width for YWD pages used within Facebook

Facebook has recently changed the width of its Static HTML IFrame app from 500 to 810 pixels. If you have YWD pages being used to manage content within your Facebook business page, your pages will now automatically take advantage of the larger width.

Functionality tweaks and fixes

Fixed

  • The "Page redirect" content block form had an issue that prevented changes from being saved if certain versions of Internet Explorer were used.
  • Custom images applied to the "on" state of buttons were not extending the full width of the button, if the "Custom dropdowns" menu style was being used with a fixed width specified for the buttons.

YWD Help - Adding Line Breaks

Due to some inquiries about adding extra line breaks to the Word Processor tool we've added a page to "Tips & Tricks" of http://help.ywd.ca that can be found here.
